Lyophilized core Streptavidin | Recombinant (E. coli) | LcSA
Overview
Flogen® Lyophilized Core Streptavidin (LcSA) is a high-purity recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, purpose-built for demanding biotin-capture workflows in research, diagnostics, and industrial-scale manufacturing.
Unlike native streptavidin, LcSA is engineered as a truncated core form — eliminating the non-specific binding artifacts caused by the native protein's charged terminal sequences. The result is cleaner signal, lower background, and superior performance in quantitative assays.
With biotin-binding activity of ≥17 U/mg protein and solubility exceeding 50 mg/mL in pH ≥7 buffer, LcSA delivers the sensitivity and reproducibility required by Luminex-based multiplex assays, immunohistochemistry (IHC), flow cytometry, time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay (TRFIA), and affinity purification workflows. It is a Luminex Recommended Reagent.
Supplied as a lyophilized powder formulated with phosphate salt for enhanced stability, LcSA offers:
- 3-year shelf life at −20°C
- Lot-to-lot consistency critical for IVD kit manufacturing
- Production capacity up to 200 g per batch — one of the highest in the industry
Available in 1 mg, 10 mg, 100 mg, and 1,000 mg pack sizes. Custom bulk quantities on request.

Why Core Streptavidin?
Why Choose Core Streptavidin Over Native Streptavidin?
Core streptavidin — also known as truncated streptavidin — removes the highly charged N- and C-terminal sequences of the native protein. These terminal regions are responsible for lectin-like non-specific binding to cell surfaces and extracellular matrices, a major source of false-positive signal in ELISA, IHC, and flow cytometry.
By using LcSA instead of native streptavidin, researchers benefit from:
- Lower background signal in tissue and cell-based assays
- Higher specificity in multiplex bead-based platforms
- Better performance in quantitative diagnostic applications (TRFIA, qPCR)
Industrial-Scale Reliability You Can Count On
Flogen® is one of the few suppliers worldwide capable of producing recombinant core streptavidin at up to 200 grams per batch from a single, ISO 9001-certified facility. This means:
